Webcam and microphone test
Check that your camera and microphone work before you start a video chat. The test runs in your browser: the video is not sent anywhere.
Press the button and allow access to the camera and microphone.
Microphone level — say something
The video and sound stay on your device: the test sends nothing to Hoplo or anyone else.
How to allow access to the camera
When you press the button, the browser asks whether this site may use your camera and microphone. Choose Allow. If you refused before, change it in the settings:
- Chrome and Edge: click the icon to the left of the address and allow the camera and microphone.
- Firefox: click the camera icon in the address bar and remove the block.
- Safari on a Mac: in the Safari menu, open the settings for this website and allow the camera and microphone.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings → Apps → Safari → Camera and Microphone (on older versions of iOS: Settings → Safari).
- Android: Chrome → ⋮ → Settings → Site settings → Camera and Microphone.
If the camera does not work
- Close other apps that may use the camera: video calls, recording programs, other browser tabs.
- Check that the camera is connected and, on a laptop, not turned off with a key or a shutter.
- If you have several cameras, choose another one in the menu above.
- Restart the browser, and if that does not help, restart the device.
If the microphone level does not move
Speak a little louder and watch the bar. If it stays still:
- choose another microphone in the menu above;
- check that the microphone is not muted with a key or in the system settings;
- on a computer, check the input device in the system’s sound settings.
Ready to chat
If you see yourself and the bar moves when you speak, everything is ready. Press the button below to start a random video chat.
